Sean Jones

Finally, made it here. That means I'm getting better, baby! YEAH!! Anyway, I started salsa dancing because I wanted to see and do something different from the hip hop scene. So I looked in Intake magazine and seen there was a salsa night at Adobo Grill on a Friday night. Now mind you that I have never danced salsa before in my life! Now I arrive at the place and music is blasting! I could here it outside. I'm like they are clowning with this music at a RESTAURANT! WHAT!? Not a club, but a RESTAURANT! Man, I knew I was going to love this. I enter Adobo and people were dancing, sweating, spinning, dipping, and laughing having a good time. So I just sat down and watched, since I've never seen this before. I was in aawww mode, which is just looking at people and being jealous by the way they dance because I couldn't do it. So I'm sitting down watching people dance all night and a lady ask if I would like to dance. Now I seen her dancing a few times and I couldn't do all them moves. I couldn't do those moves by myself, let alone while dancing with a woman. So I told her, that this was my first time and bla bla bla.. But she said it was ok and she would show me the basic moves. I hesitated but thought, I paid to get in so I might as well have some fun. So she showed me the basic moves to salsa, merenge, and bachata. Then she told me that the music rhythm determined which dance I should do. Now I'm feeling good but then intimidated at the same time because I only had basic steps while everyone else were doing fancy moves. She told me that I should take lessons in order to become a better dancer. She talked about IntoSalsa and that the instructor, Yang, who was in Adobo passing out flyers about his studio. So we finished dancing, I asked her what her name was. She said her name was Bensu. Then I gave her a hug and thanked her. (Thanks Bensu you showed me the way! haha!!) So I went looking to get a flyer, but Yang was all out but he told me to check out his website, Intosalsa.com. I went to the website and seen when they offered beginner class and the rest is history!

I was hooked to salsa from that point on. I've been dancing almost a year, and love salsa dancing. I am serious! I am an addict for salsa dancing! I've danced in the street (Fiesta), at Circle Center Mall, family reunion, etc. At one point and time, I would go out 4 to 5 times a week to dance salsa! And still have to go to work in the morning!! I am an addict!!! I just love it and I meet so many people. The people that I've meet while dancing are wonderful and I want to let them all know that I appreciate them all. Couldn't ask for anything more. Well thanks for reading my story and if you see me out, come over and say something. We can talk, dance, but most importantly having fun!!
